Ring of Fire

I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
and the flames went higher.
And it burns, burns, burns
the ring of fire.

I originally did this peice with that song in mind. Johnny Cash wrote it along with June Carter, or so I am told. It's about illicit love and how lust can send you into the depths of hell. At the time, Cash was married to someone who was not June Carter, and I guess it was a bit of a strain. But the two of them did end up together.

I just watched "Walk the Line". Good movie. It's sad, he hurts himself and a lot of people, including his wife who stuck with him through his fairly obvious affair with June Carter (which is mostly what the movie is about). However, he seemed like a victim too, which may just have been how the movie portrayed him; regardless, the helpless spiralling downwards rings true with the lines you posted.
