This is part of a series I am doing for the Bologna Children's Book Fair illustration competition. The story here is Jack and the Beanstalk, and alas, the poor giant (whose has been repeatedly robbed by the merciless Jack) is falling from the stalk that Jack just cut down. Do I feel sympathy for the giant? Yes. Should I? That's a question for a different blog, I think.

I'm the Illustrator Coordinator for the Canada West chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and I've been organizing a group blog. The idea of this blog is that a bunch of us illustrators will illlustrate upon a theme each month. This month, the theme is Hallowe'en and we all had the task of illustrating the phrase, "Things that go bump in the night".
